Last updated: January 1, 2026. Important disclaimers concerning railway safety and timetable variance.

1. Independent Editorial Status

OtterVelvetran is an independent editorial publication. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated on behalf of Network Rail, ScotRail, Transport for Wales, Northern Trains, Deutsche Bahn, SNCF, or any other commercial railway operating body.

2. Timetable Variance & Operational Changes

While our field guides reference scheduled train numbers, calling patterns, and platform structures, railway timetables change seasonally (typically in May and December). Engineering works, industrial disputes, and severe weather can alter services without notice. You are solely responsible for verifying real-time train departures directly with the official transport operator prior to boarding.

3. Pedestrian & Outdoor Safety

Exploring rural platforms and upland footpaths involves inherent risks, including rapid weather changes, slippery stone surfaces, boggy ground, and limited emergency assistance. Travelers must carry appropriate footwear, navigational aids, and thermal garments. OtterVelvetran accepts no liability for personal injury, lost connections, strandings, or unexpected travel expenses incurred during your excursions.

4. Railway Bylaws & Trespassing Prohibition

Walking along active railway ballast, climbing line-side boundary fences, or crossing tracks anywhere other than designated public foot crossings or footbridges is illegal, extremely dangerous, and subject to severe criminal penalties. All photography and viewpoints described on this site must be enjoyed exclusively from public rights of way or station areas open to fare-paying passengers.

5. Intellectual Property
